More about the workshop

This hour long workshop was recorded live on Facebook. We are now making it available for anyone interested to watch.

Hi I'm Simon Borg-Olivier, Physiotherapist and Co-Director of Yoga Synergy.

After 35 years teaching experience and my in depth knowledge of the body as a qualified Physiotherapist I believe there are some crucial techniques to you need to consider to minimise harm and even injury while your practice Ashtanga Vinyasa.

With these important techniques I can help you to avoid

(1) lower back pain
(2) knee pain and have even
(3) tearing a hamstring (among other things)

In this special class, I will be talking about the most common problems that many people experience practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and other more modern yoga styles.

As exercise-based physiotherapists, Bianca Machliss and I have developed many ways of working with the postures, movements, and breathing that are taught in Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga that allow the practice to be safe, accessible, and effective.

Published research suggests that up to 53% of people practicing the ‘vinyasa' styles have experienced problems including injuries as a result of their practice.

In this session I want to go to some of the main problems that are experienced and show ways to alleviate them by removing some of the myths and misunderstandings of these practices, giving clear instructions on how to perform postures, how to modify postures where needed, and how to move and breathe in a way that facilitates a better result physically, energetically and mentally.

I hope you enjoy this online workshop
Much love and best wishesSimon Borg-Olivier "
